Way back for my honeymoon we stayed in Guanacaste for most of the trip. Many of the excursions were very far away (2 to 4 hours one way) in a private van or a bus. So I recommend you split your stay if you don't want to spend a lot of time traveling traveling to/from attractions on your excursions. If I had to do it over again, I would most definitely have split my stay up to be closer to the attractions.
