My Dell adapters have a 3-prong plug, although I'm sure there are others that don't.

Depends on the power pack itself - some are two, some are three. I have two sitting beside me that look exactly the same except one is earthed and the other isn't.

As someone that had a nasty run-in with 240 volts many years ago (and still has the scars from the skin grafts to prove it!) I'm more than happy to have to worry about the 3rd plug...
