Thanks everyone for the feedback. Bennos is right in that even if I miss the shorter connection, I should have the fall back option in the later flight, but 6 hour flight in a sucky standby seat is something I have to seriously think about...

To Zorak, in your case, did you have any checked luggage? Both myself and my partner are FAR right of the bell curve when it comes to walking speed as well (), but we will have checked luggage and that might be the wild card here. I am DL Platinum so I suppose killing time at T4 SkyClub and flying back in seats of our choice in the later flight may be the less stressful way to go in the end.
