I don't see why not. But finding award space on QF J might be difficult, though that may not be a bad thing. They fly the A380 on that route and I don't think they have or will upgrade the seats. AA saaver space in J is much more readily available going LAX-SYD route and they have the newer hard product in 77w business class, comparable to what CX is flying on their 77w and some of their a330s - the 1-2-1 reverse herringbone.
