Ultimately, when a BA Captain intervenes, that is a serious matter. It is one step short of law enforcement. OP should take it as a sign that perhaps his decision to select another carrier is a mutual decision taken by BA to hope that OP uses the occasion to do so as well. A win-win it is called.
The captain didn't intervene. He came to me after the flight had ended. I think it was the cabin crew lady scoring a point - note I did follow her instruction albeit after an initial query of the instruction.
