There's already a UC meet up thread on this board in which people essentially give away UC access to strangers. United values UC access (via a day pass) at a much higher value than a food item and drink.
Correct, and we've debated this before, you should not give your upgraded seat or companion upgrade a stranger especially if there are other customers on the upgrade list - doing so is just bad form, but that's for another thread.

We have all complained about crowding in the UC, especially at hubs - is it really appropriate to bring a complete stranger into the club with you adding to the seating issues that already exist? I think not. If you want to entertain a pretty lady, do so at the airport bar.

The bottom line is these benefits are intended for the customer who earned their status. If you're going to share a pack of M&Ms (really a strawman stretch) with a family member, is that really a big deal? I would concede not, and I would probably concede giving your snack item to a family member traveling with you is not the end of the world either, although it does not follow the intent of the benefit as outlined by UAInsider who specifically stated for who the benefit was intended....however, to deliberately order a snack box item or beverage for the sole purpose of giving it to a total stranger is really inappropriate.
