Idea: book her flights in business class!

There are two credit cards that give free checked bags for all flights, the Visa Infinite Privlege and AMEX Aeroplan credit card (not charge card). Included in the annual fees ($500 ish) are lounge access which she might enjoy since you're booking her Y tickets... and a good chunk of points.
