It's a fairly dull drive and there isn't much of interest along the way.
I've made the Houston to New Orleans drive more times than I can count and would agree with this. That being said it's a fairly easy drive.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you stay downtown New Orleans the cost to park a rental car could be rather steep.
