Well, not really. First of all, if you elect points+points, there is another 50% bonus. Secondly, Hilton almost always has a promotion for double base points; currently there is a promotion for triple base points. A Diamond can almost always get 30 points per dollar spent. That makes the 34000 point room require a spend of $1133 (or $1333 for the 40000 point room), and the room comes with free breakfast for both occupants + executive lounge.
I stayed recently at the CP Bangkok, as well as the IC, Holiday Inn Silom, and Conrad. The CP was disappointing for the cost (which was about the same as the Conrad's cost). The IC was excellent mainly due to the great breakfast, which they unexpectedly gave me for free as a Platinum. The HI Silom was very good for the price (half of the cost of the CP).
