For the same category of hotels, you are likely to have to spend more with Marriott or Hilton, and spend more points to redeem.

You might be happy when Marriott or Hilton on redemption stays when you receive the free breakfast or upgrade. But in the same time you would forgot how much you have spent in each hotel group in order to get the same number of nights on redemption.

There is a price to pay to feel pampered.
