I flew MH and SQ on the LAX-TPE flights within the past year...

I think SQ and MH are very comparable airlines. MH's food is not bad at all... and the satays are as nice as SQ, if not better. The food is fresh... I think for most Asian airlines, they pay more attention to the meals.

MH indeeds offer an amenity kit...

I think the only area that MH loses out is the seats. SQ has the sleeper seats in J, while MH is still using the old seats.

Therefore, I think if MH has a major promotion, you should go for it. But if the price is the same for both MH and SQ, you should go for SQ.
