At least 75% of the travel and accommodation must be paid using Amex card or MR points. Domestic travel must include a pre-reserved accommodation of at least one night. If it contains a flight, it can be also a day trip. Travel abroad must commence from the home country as sir Intuition stated.

Regarding separate bookings, if the passenger misses the connecting flight, there is a compensation of up to $200 for immediate expenses from delays over 4 hour. There is no mentioning who pays the connecting flight that was on separate ticket (and therefore it must be the passenger himself). Also, if in case of overbooking the passenger accepts the airline compensation, no insurance compensations are paid.

All in all, I do not bother relying on Amex - AIG consortium and I use Pohjola Matkavakuutus for all travel, complimented by insurance granted by my employer for work travel. No separate tickets either, unless there is a pre-planned stop-over - the travel still would have commenced from home country...

OT: I pay most of my leisure travel using AY-DC, so I could use also DC Premium travel insurance. That ascertained by DC Finland employees.

Just to point out that insurance link seems to be for Platinum... the amounts and coverage for Gold insurance is different. For those of us carrying the Gold version
