So you pick your eggs and meat, what are the choices? omelettes, Eggs Benedict?
I assume the fruits, breads, and pastries are buffet style?
Thanks in advance
Platinum and gold given choice breakfast or 750 points per day. There are flexible set menus, NO buffet. You can alternate breakfast one day points the next if u sleep through or don't always want breakfast. Served 6:30-10:30am.
You get coupon for 2persons breakfast, choice of 3 set menus. Most comprehensive is "le Martin" which includes choice of several fresh squeezed juices, a basket including one each croissant, pain au chocolate, half baguette, and few slices Poilane bread, hot drink (coffee, tea...), eggs made how you wish(poached, scrambled, boiled, omelette...) or pancakes or crepes, 2 sides (meat, champignons, mixed veggies). We also asked for yogurt and fruit and were not charged extra. Basically I think they will get u whatever u want. Other set menus included just hot bev, bread basket, juice, fruit cup--basic continental -- or gluten free-vegan full breakfast. Table set with two types of homemade jam and other condiments all of which were extremely sweet.
We chose le Martin and frankly we were not impressed. The juice was very good, eggs were ok, pancakes very ordinary, croissant and pain au chocolate and baguette subpar. We asked for a fruit plate instead of eggs and were offered a bowl of minced mixed fruits (they call it minestrone fruits). When we declined they brought a variety of whole fruits, not ripe. But for some reason they don't have fresh berries or melon or traditional fruit plate. Asked for plain yogurt and received either vanilla or sweetened yogurt, not sure but it was not what we wanted. veggie side was excellent combo of champignons (mushrooms) , spinach, herbs, tomatoes.
Balance of our stay we will just take the points, buy coffee, and walk 6 minutes to Au Pain et des Idees (34 Rue Yves Toudic) previously mentioned which has outstanding croissants and pain au chocolate and a picnic table outside to enjoy and people watch.
Overall, staff in hotel is outstanding. Really caring and accommodating. We requested 2 beds so were not given an upgrade upon arrival as only 2 bedded rooms seem to be the Paris basic room. When we said we would take a king they were able to find a jr suite available for our 5 night stay. Most rooms have queens.
. Jr suite is really just one good sized room with a couch--no separate living area. Bathroom has 2 sinks which is great. Full shower, no tub. Room has no drawers so we were disappointed not to be able to unpack for a lengthy stay. Huge closet space and a few cubby holes, Krupps coffee machine and and teapot were great, our request to empty the minibar was accommodated with no backlash. Disappointed that in a new hotel there were no electric outlets by the bed but we travel with ten foot cords so we could use outlets several feet away and just made it. Surprisingly they put the light switches behind the backboard so you have to get out of bed to turn off lights at night. Windows don't open so it's stuffy.
