In Flight Entertainment failure

Is this failure normal to BA? This is the second time for this year, the first time was for JFK-LHR, the second LHR-SFO yesterday. JFK-LHR had no entertainment at all, which was told before takeoff. For the second time, it did work for the first few hours, then dropped. The staff reset the system a couple of times, no recovery at all. Games seemed OK though I did not use it.

For the first incident, I did not get anything at all as it's not BA's operational fault but the aircraft's, but I was offered 10,000 Avios or £50 e-voucher for yesterday's. The only difference was JFK-LHR on C, and LHR-SFO on F.

I used fly with Star Alliance, but such failure never happened. I wonder why this relatively often happens on BA.
