Has anyone thought of buying fares prior to 1/1 in order to get tickets ticketed before the rollout of Basic Economy?

Planning 2-3 intl trips and while my work may purchase a higher W or P fare for these trips, I have friends who want to tag along and they will be buying the cheap K fares (500/600 roundtrip) from West coast to Asia.

Thoughts / Advice for them? Should they pull the trigger to buy now?
