In fairness, I see where she is coming from as why would you pay for the nanny to sit in J while you're in Y.

I would say they seemed to come to the most stupid result of the nanny calling every time a feed was required.
I don't think the offer was not to switch seats with the nanny while feeding the kid. They usually only allow switching once throughout the flight. That means the mother had to stay in Y. The mother should have paid the infant fare for J instead of for Y.
