Being so close to Canada, you might want to consider upgrading to NEXUS which would give you more convenience in travel such as what you're doing.

For now, GE gives you benefits returning to the US at the land border (as it would if you were flying out of Toronto to your US destination), and might let you use the trusted traveler line when departing Toronto as mentioned above (ask and see; no harm; but you'll need the Global Entry card which I understand is optional). It won't give you any help in entering Canada upon your return, nor at the land border on the way out.
