To be accurate, BA requested the authorisation twice with the same amount (£6000) so the credit card company considers total £12,000 spending with BA although BA only took £6000. The credit card issuer asked me to call BA to fax a confirmation that it would not take the 2nd charge so they could remove the pending transaction immediately. Otherwise, the 2nd charge will disappear automatically after 7 working days. the annoying thing is that due to the breach of credit limit, I am being charge for a penalty £12! And I cannot use my credit card any more!

I called BA and was told it is normal that my credit card was "charged" twice although BA will only take money once. I didn't believe in the first place so I called them again on the following day. I was told the same thing, which makes me think this is "normal". But i struggle to understand why BA requests authorisation twice when I make a phone booking? Is this normal? I only found out this time because I was very close to credit limit. Thanks for your imputs in advance.
I've never seen this.

If you complain to your card issuer you'll probably get the £12 back, if it's a first offence.
