Just for fun, I checked my flights stats: I flew 23 sectors with AA in 2016, up from 20 in 2015. Happily my travel policy is F, so I notice whether strict priority is policed at the time of boarding. I honestly don't recall a single scrummage event involving AA. Maybe you and I frequent different airports, so YMMV.
LAX is my main problem, and unfortunately my USA base, particularly T6, the layout there is crazy given it's only recently refitted, and T4 isn't much better depending on the gates concerned. One T6 gate has a candy stall right in the middle of the boarding area. But I've also had recent difficulties at LGA too.
