I wouldn't hold AA as a paragon of virtue here, there are plenty of places where the scrummage around the entrances makes trying to get priority boarding, if travelling First, is quite unpleasant.
Just for fun, I checked my flights stats: I flew 23 sectors with AA in 2016, up from 20 in 2015. Happily my travel policy is F, so I notice whether strict priority is policed at the time of boarding. I honestly don't recall a single scrummage event involving AA. Maybe you and I frequent different airports, so YMMV.
