Chase UR booking tool and BA Euro Traveller fares
I posted this to the Chase UR forum last night but I haven't gotten a response yet. I hope I'm not violating any rules by posting it here as well.
I'd like to book a BA flight between the UK and Portugal using UR points. BA offers two versions of Economy ("Euro Traveller") fares within Europe - Basic and Plus. The Plus fare includes one checked bag, and I will need to check a bag.
The Chase UR booking tool, however, simply identifies the class as Economy. The price matches the Economy Plus price from the BA website (after converting currencies), giving me hope that I'm looking at an Economy Plus ticket. But when I called Chase to confirm, the agent insisted that the Chase booking tool only gives the lowest level of Economy.
She suggested that I find the fare class letter and call back, but the fare class seems to be O for both Economy Basic and Economy Plus, according to what I've found on the BA website. This makes no sense to me - how can two distinct classes have the same letter?
Anybody know what I can do here? The fare difference between Basic and Plus is only £13, compared to £30 to check a bag on an Economy Basic ticket, so I want to get this right.
Worst case, are BA tickets within Europe booked through UR fully refundable? (I can't seem to find a clear answer to that question.) If so, I can buy my ticket on the Chase site, see what I ended up with on the BA site, and cancel it if it's not what I need.
Thanks.
