Aren't you the one who pointed out to me that under AC's tariff, equipment is actually grounds to ask for a change/refund? Rule 80(C)(1)(c) is where I found it, I think.
Whether OP will have success in phoning Aeroplan and getting them to honour that with a free change to the flight he wants is another matter, but it's an option.
