Probably because the last line in the OP's post is: "Does Marriott do this often?"

Odds are Marriott elites would be more familiar with whether or not Marriott does telemarketing calls than folk on the SPG forum, so if the OP's question was legit (I assumed it was), figured it being moved to a forum where input by those familiar w/ Marriott might be more helpful than those who aren't that familiar w/ Marriott, which would be a # of SPG members as the merger is very new.
