I would if I were you. There is precedence with claims under the Montreal Convention that the SDR limits apply per passenger who had belongings lost, regardless of "whose bag" they were in. Not that you hopefully would have to go to court. Try the airline again and carefully set forth who lost what, which it sounds like you have receipts and everything. If AF turns you down you can weigh your options from there.
