Don't count on getting J seats together by simply asking AeroPlan reservations - when I book AP for better half traveling with me, I immediately call Concierge to manage seats for us.

Ah, and the reason I sometimes have to wait a few minutes when I call in for day of departure issues becomes clear.
You're using them for seat assignment
I'm actually surprised they haven't said "Sir, I'm going to transfer you to reservations *click*". I've had that happen for flights I was already checked in for, but were the "next day".
