Of course you can. Just get off in london and go to the arrivals hall as normal, then the baggage services desk and ask for your bag back.

They've got 100% baggage reconciliation so they can't fly your bag to AMS if you're not in the plane.

You might have to wait a while for it to come out, but don't see why it's an issue.
