Just called to cancel my Aeroplan Visa Infinite and the rep asked if I wanted to downgrade to a no fee card instead.

Asked him if I were to switch back to the Aeroplan Visa later would I still get whatever bonus and he said I'd have to wait two years, otherwise I'd have to do a new app.
I've read of, and been told by PM, of disallowed bonus points when you try to re-upgrade within 6 months of the downgrade.

Otherwise, I think you should be ok if you wait a year, 2 years seems excessive. I've even seen datapoints where the downgrade to upgrade was just a few months apart and resulted in successful re-bonus'ing, though personally I'd wait a 6 months to a year.
