AI is an oddball airline that doesn't serve as a barometer for anything. They're only in *A because LH fluffed its lines with 9W.
That said, 33"-34" pitch in Y along with 9-abreast Y (I think - might've changed) + hot meals in Y domestic ... they offer a better Y value proposition than many *A airlines.
J long haul, on the other hand...
