I believe it comes down to an ethical rather than a technical issue. Your wife can certainly book a room for you and warn the hotel that you'll be checking in, then never show up herself. That is technically possible. Is it against the rules? Yes. Will you get caught? Most likely not. Is it "wrong"? That's up to you.
Is it wrong? I guess, but either way, HH is getting our money. I will throw out the car window a few pieces of my bagel, the birds like a little treat on my block. Is that wrong? I guess but I try not to sweat the little things in life.
