After doing the homework on this, it turns out Costa Rica is difficult to get to from SFO. No non-stops which means shuffling through immigration and customs before arriving back SFO on return. Hate doing this. We are not in tip-top shape so the one-stop flights together with three-hour or drives or yet another air connection puts me off. Many of the outbound flights are red eyes which we try to avoid; others don't arrive until midnight or later. Just no easy way to do this. Yes, both international airports.
