Sorry - yes I got back the fare differential as well. Assumed that would always happen. Interestingly the agent originally wanted to just refund the differential to the fare on the day the 1st class was purchased but in this case I had actually originally purchased coach and then later upfared that to first. I pointed out that there had been a real coach fare paid for the ticket and that I should get back the differential to that (bigger than the difference to the day of the upfare) and she changed to use that with no argument. While the $125 wasn't really much I figured that it fit since it was only a PDX-PSP ticket. I left my wife with a seat in first since the real reason we had bothered to buy first on this run was to insure that she requal'd here MVP status. I have long since requal'd my MVPG.

I just think AS could handle these things a bit better since they brought them on themselves. Best they could do for me on seating was a row 11 window which wouldn't be my first pick. Good that they hadn't also needed to downgrade my wife.

ETA: couldn't tell if there had been any earlier upgrades - was told it was strictly by time of purchase.
