If you're not sure if you got 30 days or 1 year, then open your passport and look at the visa. It should also say if it is for single or multi entry.
That's not supposed to be true any more. Look back a page, what we are all reporting is that there was a change on Dec 15 and apparently US citizens can now get the old rates and any of the different visa options at VOA again effective Dec 15. So according to the new guidelines (if you can call anything that in the VN government!), we should be able to get single entry for the $25 stamp fee again. Reports so far are that people are still getting fleeced, at least at DAD and HAN.
And I edited the wiki to reflect the policy but that no change yet is reported in practice at DAD and HAN. We land in SGN on Friday, so will report back on our experiences there.
