Upgrade rates on intra-west routes through the SEA and LAX hubs are quite high. AS elites often report getting upgrades on these routes. These hubs are not nearly as well established as the eastern hubs and the SLC hub and are drawing from a smaller pool of Medallions. The fact that OP is SMF based indicates he is probably flying quite a bit on SMF-SEA and SMF-LAX flights.
