I was pleasantly surprised last week when picking up a car at an airport in Ireland. Additional driver = EUR 66 , discount - EUR 66.

This is a new development as Avis & Hertz both charged for additional drivers in Ireland in the past , even if they were your spouse (many,many bookings over the last 15 years). The one exception was Avis bookings made via the BA Executive Club.

I didn't question this in case they had made a mistake! But I would be interested to see if it is a permanent change.

I'm 5*/Gold Plus in case that makes a difference, but I doubt it
