This place seems to be popular on yelp or tripadvisor, as my foreign friends have mentioned it also when planning trips but none of my local friends have ever mentioned it. I had friends who went and it is closed, as of Dec 1, for awhile for renovations or something. I do not know when it will re-open.
I went there last year with my wife and 9 of her friends who are all locals and first time there, they raved about the food and while we were there i was one of only a few "western" customers there out of the hundreds of locals.
Its a shame it is closed at the moment we are arriving in to HCMC on Jan 1 and was hoping to take my mother and aunt there for dinner.
