Strong recommend on the active cable -- I have been traveling with one for years, and it has been incredibly reliable, and is very compact. I think mine is 10', and it takes up almost no space at all when coiled up.

You may think you don't need the longer cable, but it's come in handy for getting behind some difficult TVs. Plus it's long enough that I can loop it through a bag handle so I don't forget my Roku stick
