I spoke to the FDC later about something else and I mentioned that she had been wrong about my Gold benefits. She seemed genuinely surprised and was then genuinely apologetic and said she was new and this was only her second week. She may just be a good actress but I appreciated her apology. What gets me is why she would say it in the first place if she had not been told/trained to say it?
I'm tempted to email the hotel and suggest they make sure that any misinformation their staff have is rectified although I am reluctant to get the FDC in trouble for making a mistake when new at the job.
