I kind of thought this was the case, and again, nobody looked particularly scared. I think the pilot did an excellent job of explaining it to us (and landing the plane safely). My underlying concern after the fact was whether or not we waited too long after de-icing and whether or not that caused the flap speed issue. It seems that wasn't the case based on what you've said.
