Strictly speaking no, this is regarded as consequential losses, and that is what your travel insurance would cover. However BA traditionally will pay £50 or so towards this. However being a BA Holiday booking, I think you may get more leeway. Give them a call, if you don't have insurance, on their dedicated number, explain the problem and ask if they can help. This isn't actually in the remit of EC261 incidentally, so take it gently with them.

As for the hassle on the day, I would take the euclaim information with a huge pinch of salt. By all means give it a go, but essentially the delays that day were caused by fog, and unless it can be proved that a fog free day would still lead to a 3 hour delay, I really doubt you'll get very far there.
