Wow, I used to travel to PVG and they used to get 77Hs and even 744s back then and all you had to do was pick up the phone and it's all sorted out for you.

Since I do more TPE, SIN and HND now, they all have F, so I never had a reason to request it.

**side note - last week I was supposed to get 35G to TPE but a last minute switch to 77H landed me a seat in 2K. But the BP shows Business, not First."

These I'm very familiar with because KA often flies the F-equipped A330 to HGH, and sometimes PVG, without selling F. And I really hate the regional product and I know almost always KA621 is operated by the 3-class A330. It seems almost without fail I'm getting seated up there, but I can't ever seem to book them in advance - even by calling MPC or using the website. Even within 24 or 48 hours. Basically when I show up at the airport my seat is already moved. But I can't seem to "control" it in advance.

Whereas J sold as Y, you can usually select online. That I'm also quite familiar with. Just my expereinces.
