It is just quite difficult to find updated info on the Abu Dhabi public transportation info probably due to taxi is so cheap so everyone is just taking the taxi - but sometimes the public transportation could be more convenient - such that there is a No.54 bus going to the Mosque almost directly across a foot bridge with the least walk versus taxi arrival point and again with a long line when you leave.
I would trust Google Maps and just roll with their public transit info, I found it to be reliable in Dubai last month. Bus/subway systems in the UAE are quite good.
