Indeed, you make very valid points here.
My rental is for 21 days - so that's $168 that will go into premium insurance for something I can actually do myself (mounting the tire).

Now I have no idea what are the usual going rates for the towing in the US, but I suppose $100 should be enough for towing the vehicle to the nearest center...

I'm starting to think I better take a separate AAA - will have to see if my personal European one extends to the US or if I can sign up for one there.

As for the airport taxes, I believe everything is already included in my rate as non-US are exempt from paying those so not sure 25% will be added on top, but then again, I might be mistaken on that one.
