Credit card Application and household income

Many of us who are into earning miles, points and MS often have to apply for multiple credit cards. Sometimes for spouses as well.

Is it okay to mention house hold income on credit card application? The link below says the law was amended so you can mention household income as long as the spouse has access to the household income.

Then there is some website which says it is fraud

However, resist the temptation to overstate your income. If an issuer finds that you knowingly provided false information on your application, you could be charged with credit card fraud, which is punishable by up to $1 million in fines and/or 30 years of imprisonment.

So I'm confused, the consumerfinance says you can include household income, the nerdwallet says it is fraud to overstate your income.

What is FT's take on this?
