BA's operating licence states how many crew there must be on a given aircraft for safety purposes (and indeed in each cabin depending on load), so there would be disruption if they are unable to maintain those numbers because there would be no option but to cancel the flight. Quite how much and where we can only guess at.
My understanding (from ft) is that BA have more staff than the minimum on most of their flights. I wonder what would happen if during the strikes they reduce the staff to the minimum across the board, still operate on time, but have a worse F/J onboard service. Unless we, the customer, complain about the strike I worry that BA will then enhance away some of their crew and make that the norm.
