That's pretty much my experience. It's not that visible when buying the ticket that it is a K-Up or Y-UP fare, though I am very much aware of this, and know the potential negative ramifications if rebooked due to irrops. But all my tickets have correctly booked into Business or First at the BAEC end. I also suspect you are correct that there is some localised IT glitch causing this.

Shahar makes it difficult for me to come up with a way forward. I think the reply from AA.com is incorrect, and given the agent probably doesn't know the intricate workings of BAEC, or how previous experiences in this area worked, I cannot see an easy way to progress this. Externally there may be a case for taking it up with various consumer protection channels, on the basis that perhaps
Shahar would not have bought this ticket had the rules changed without notice.
The other mystery, incidentally, is why we have not had lots of similar questions about this. A lot of First flying on AA is on this basis.
