I did... AA answer was:
The information that was provided by BA is correct. You purchased a fare that allows for complimentary upgrade to the higher cabin. You'll receive credit for fare purchased not cabin. Once your able to contact AAdvantage Customer Service they can go over that with you. They can be reached at 1-800-882-8880.
and
Mileage is based on the fare you purchase, not the cabin you actually sit in. You purchased a Main Cabin fare which allowed for a complimentary upgrade if available so it was booked in A but the fare basis was a Main Cabin fare. Please call AAdvantage Customer Service if you have additional questions. 800-882-8880
