Maybe, maybe not. Entirely possible the guy decided to act because it was a woman and not a man taking advantage of the benefit.
I think it was unnecessary to photograph the guy; having the name plus the gate and time should be sufficient for management to identify him. And engaging like that is nearly always an escalation move that ends badly. Generally fighting with airline employees does.
