The free bag only requires that you're the primary card member. The SkyMiles number on your credit card has to match the SkyMiles number in your reservation. There aren't any other requirements. (If there isn't a SkyMiles number on your card, then you aren't the primary cardholder and you'll only get a free bag when traveling with the primary card holder on the same flights.)
