When an agent requests an upgrade it asks for W or A as part of the upgrade request vs. the website doesn’t, when Sabre clears the upgrade it looks at the SSR line which tells it whether to assign W or A.
In any case, as soon as your upgrade clears you should be going to AA.com to make sure you are "FEBO".
