Reading the article it says that the person concerned was sitting in his seat having removed his shirt. As a matter of interest shouldn't this have alerted the flight crew. The article also states that he had been in the bar for hours. The bar on the A380 is an attended bar. Again shouldn't the flight crew have realised that this guy was getting more and more pi**ed and should they not have refused to serve him any more drinks.
So no, don't outlaw drinking on board. Train the flight crew to recognise the signs that a passenger has had enough and train them to deal with the matter swiftly and firmly
Staff are trained for this using a traffic light system. Perhaps with a change of staff over the duration of the flight this was not adeqauately done.
I'm not surprised that this was on a MAN flight to be honest - although no danger of me flying on a 2 class
